First, we landed in Santiago, Chile. Then we travel to Easter Island where we will be staying for a few days to explore and learn. First, I visited Ahu Tongariki, which is the largest of all of the statues of Rapa Nui. The moais were knocked over due to historical events like the tsunami and the civil war that occurred there.

Next, I went to Anakena Beach, where I sunbathed and stuck my feet in the sand to feel the sand between my toes and feel the warmth of the sun. This beach is a white coral sand beach that I was so excited to walk along. The volcanic crater called Rano Raraku was awesome to explore and hike. The slopes are so interesting to see and experience.

After leaving Easter Island, we went back to Santiago where our journey in Chile began. Santiago is the capital of Chile and its largest city. Bicentenario Park also called “parque bicentenario” is a big common area where people go to talk and have time outside. I saw a lot of people walking their dogs and socializing with each other. I stopped to pet various pets and see lots of wildlife in the park.

My next adventure is to go shopping and to experience local restaurants. This area is called Barrio Bellavista, which is known for being super trendy and popular with young people. The central market, also called “mercado central”, is where merchants go to sell fresh foods and artisans go to sell their work, including arts and crafts, which I was excited to see and buy.

Overall, my trip to Chile was very rewarding because I got to meet new people who have a very different experience than I do. I liked hearing about people’s favorite places to go to within Chile, and where the locals actually go, rather than just touristy areas.
